Greetings Christ Second Baptist Church,

In light of the global pandemic of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are making every endeavor to consider the health of our congregation and contribute to the national support and safety of our community.

Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where there is no counsel the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” We have consulted with health professionals and our local government on this matter, therefore to demonstrate social responsibility, we have decided to make an adjustment to our Sunday morning worship services and our gathering practices to minimize our risk to this potential threat.

This Sunday, March 22, 2020, instead of coming to the sanctuary for worship, we are asking every CSBC member to stream Sunday School at 8:30 am and Sunday Morning Worship at 9:45 am online at www.csbclb.org. In addition, all weekly meetings and activities from TODAY to Saturday, April 18 have been suspended. Please continue to check your text messages, emails and other social media outlets for CSBC updates.

This is not a casual or an uninformed decision and it is definitely not a decision based on fear or a lack of faith. II Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” So please understand the decision, not to physically assemble is a choice we make, not based on fear or a lack of faith, but because we chose to be responsible and to act on our faith. Trust me when I say, it takes more faith to shut down than to assemble. Just because you’re canceling public worship doesn’t mean you’re fearful and just because you’re having church doesn’t mean you have faith.

We are in a place where we’ve never been before. However, through technology we can meet this challenge. Through our streaming and online capabilities, you can have a presence in worship without being present in worship.

This is not the end of the world. This is not the time for the church to panic. This is a time for us to be Prudent, Prayerful, and Persistent. The church needs your financial support more than ever. Therefore, we need each of our members to continue with your tithes, offerings and Sacrifice 2020 gifts to ensure the church is sustained through this pandemic. In the interim, let us check on one another, especially our senior members who are most susceptible to this pandemic. In the event that you discover one of our members needs help, please inform us Minister Nigel Pierre at 267.997.9156 or Sis. Ophelia Sanders 310.259.7029.

There are several ways, which you may contribute: you may give online at www.csbclb.org, you may give through Givelify by downloading the app on your computer, mobile device and/or tablet, you may mail in your financial contributions or drop them in the church mailbox or we can have someone to pickup them up from you. If you need assistance in any of these areas, please contact the church office at 562.599.3421.

We are a people of faith and this is a time to exercise our faith. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

As the health professionals have advised, we encourage you to follow the recommend steps to help minimize and mitigate your risk for exposure.

Wash your hands frequently for at least twenty (20) seconds with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

Stay home when you are sick with a cold, fever, or cough.

Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that you frequently touch.

As you interact with others, greet them with a friendly wave or an elbow bump.

Now we realize that everyone will not get this message, so we ask that you would share this message with as many CSBC members as possible.

We can’t wait until we can collectively meet again, and prayerfully we hope it will be soon.

Be encouraged.

Yours Sure of Salvation through Jesus Christ,

Pastor Welton Pleasant, II
